Description
The lodges located at the roundabout junction of the A30 and A308 were designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and built between 1930 and 1932. They feature red brick panels with Portland stone elements, including eaves courses, quoins, and a plinth that extends to the cill level. The lodges have a shallow ogee section pyramidal roof covered with plain tiles, adorned with bonnet hips and topped with an acorn finial. They are single-storey structures with an octagonal plan, and the doors and windows are positioned on alternate faces. Each door is accented with a triangular pediment, a pulvinated frieze, and an architrave, while a coat of arms is displayed on the keystone. The windows are fitted with louvred shutters.
