Description

The Swan Public House is an 18th-century building with later extensions. The east front features painted stucco and a decorative dentil eaves course, with gabled and hipped tiled roofs. The building is two to three storeys high, facing the Hythe. It has a porch supported by two columns and a single column topped with a sculptured swan. The ground floor includes six 12-pane sash windows, while the first floor has six 12-pane sash windows, one recess, one 4-pane sash window with side lights, and one later sash window.

To the west, there is a 19th-century extension, also in painted stucco, featuring a ground floor entrance and a large pane sash window, with three 6-pane sash windows on the first floor. The roof is hipped with a short parapet on the west side, and there are two hips on the east and a single chimney stack.

On the river front, a three-storey 19th-century wing includes two bay windows with a verandah and terrace above. The first floor has four glazed doors with side lights, and the second floor features three 4-pane sash windows, all beneath a tiled roof. A cross wing from the 18th century extends to the west, with a splayed end and hipped tiled roof, containing a ground floor door and two large pane sash windows, and three 12-pane sash windows on the first floor. There is a terrace leading to the tow path and a later outbuilding to the west.
