Description

The Turner Tomb, located 8 yards north of the Church of St. Bartholomew in Horley, is a chest tomb dedicated to Robert Turner, who died in 1728. It is made of stone and rests on a moulded stone plinth. The tomb features panelled sides with gadrooned angle piers and a flat lid with a moulded edge. Notable decorative elements include fine paired cherub heads on the west end and skulls surrounded by a floral garland on the east end. There is also a fine inscription on the north side.
