Description

Ruffetts Cottage is a house dating from around 1680, originally a central chimney house of three bays. It was extended to the south in the early 19th century and converted into two cottages. The construction is mainly of knapped flint with red brick dressings, featuring a tiled roof, a central panelled brick chimney stack, and flint and brick chimney stacks. The property is two storeys high with a cellar and has four windows on the front elevation, two on each floor. The ground floor windows are casements with cambered head linings. Architectural details include a brick string course and a plinth. There are two tiled porches at the front. The interior features chamfered spine beams, exposed floor joists, and an open fireplace with a dome-shaped bread oven. A cellar contains an arched niche for a lamp. The roof structure includes staggered butt purlins and butt rafters.
