Description

The Deerings is a 17th-century house located on Southerns Lane in Chipstead, Coulsdon. It features a timber frame that is encased in 19th-century flint and brick, topped with a plain tile roof. The house has a large stack at the left end and a smaller ridge stack on the right. It is designed as a single-storey building with an attic, which is accentuated by gabled dormers. There is an outshot at the right-hand end. The ground floor has four leaded casement windows, and the entrance consists of a planked and studded door located beneath a 19th-century gabled porch supported by wooden posts. The rear of the house displays an exposed timber frame with brick infill.
