Description

Fairdene School is a farmhouse, now used as a private school, dating largely from the 17th century with substantial extensions added in the late 19th century. The building is timber frame construction with brick infill and tile hanging above, all under plain tile roofs with ridge stacks. The original section of the house is on the right and features a gable front with a jettied first floor, displaying a single leaded mullion and transom window. Three casement windows are visible on the return front. To the left is a four-bay brick and half-timber extension from the 19th century, featuring leaded casements and a central plank door within a gabled porch. A square bellcote sits atop the ridge. Further extensions to the rear of the building have created a courtyard, but these are not included in the listing.
