Description
Old West Street House is a timber-framed house that was refronted in the 18th century, although the original timbering with red brick infilling is still visible on the east gable end. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring four windows and a window space in the center of the first floor. It has three dormers set in a fairly high pitched tiled roof, which is adorned with a moulded wood eaves cornice. The exterior is made of red brick with grey headers and includes a first-floor band. The windows have gauged flat brick arches and moulded wood architraves, with sash windows that include glazing bars. The doorway is notable for its grooved pilasters and an unusual concavely-curved "chinoiserie" pediment, topped with a low oblong fanlight.
