Description
Nos. 1 and 2 Flanchford Mill Cottages are a millhouse and attached cottage that have been converted into two dwellings. They date from the 18th century, with some additions and alterations made in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring a plat band and a plain tile roof with brick stacks at both ends and in the center.
The building is two storeys high and consists of seven bays. The two right-hand bays, which include a rear outshut, were added around 1930, and there is a rear stair-outshut for No. 2. The front facade has two board doors flanked by windows, with an additional window at the center. The fifth bay originally had an entrance to the cottage but now features a window, while the second bay has a blind window and the fifth bay has a blank space where a window used to be. The windows are small-pane wooden casements from the 20th century, and the ground-floor openings are topped with segmental brick arches. Iron tie-bars are present at the ends of the building. Inside No. 2, there are chamfered beams and panelled doors.
