Description
The Cottage, The Old House is a former service building that has been converted into a cottage. It dates from the 18th century and was altered in the 20th century. The structure is made of red and brown brick and features a hipped roof covered with plain tiles. It is a single storey building with an attic on the left side, which is highlighted by a hipped, 2-light sash dormer. There are late 19th century chimney stacks located at the rear left and front right of the building. The eaves are decorated with brick dentils.
The entrance front, which faces south at a right angle to the street, has two round-headed casement windows to the right and one to the left of a round-arched, half-glazed door. On the left side of the building, which faces the street, there are single 12-pane sash windows flanking a pair of double 15-pane sash windows in the center. The rear of the building features one round-arched and one square sash window. There is also a single storey wing at the rear, covered with an asbestos roof, which is not of special interest. The building is included in the register for its group value.
