Description

The Old Vicarage is a house, now divided into four dwellings, built in 1715 by the Reverend Hugh Griffiths. It was altered and extended at the rear in the 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick, which was once colourwashed, and features a moulded eaves board and a plain tiled roof. It has two storeys and attics, with two flat-roofed casement dormers. There is a large, offset stack at the right end and a rear ridge stack on the left. A plat band runs above the ground floor. The first floor has five 19th-century casement windows under gauged brick heads, which are now painted over, along with two similar windows on the ground floor to the right. On the ground floor to the left, there is a ribbed lead-roofed pentice with two "French" windows. The pentice is extended and supported on a Doric pier over a glazed door that has a transom light above. At the rear, there is a wing that is at right angles to the main structure, with a gable that oversails the front to the right of the centre.
