Description

The Headmaster's House is a house dated 1734, as noted on a sundial located on the first floor. It has been altered over time and is constructed of handmade red brick in Flemish bond, topped with a slate roof. The building features a rectangular plan, is two storeys high, and has a symmetrical facade with two bays on each side of a central three-bay section, which includes a three-course band.

The central section slightly projects forward and has corner pilasters at the ground floor. It features a square single-storey porch with a reeded surround around the doorway, a recessed door with glazed top panels, and a hipped roof. The ground floor includes segmental-headed cross-windows with casement openings and internal saddle-bars, although the window to the right of the center has been blocked, with only the head visible, and the next window has been slightly altered. On the first floor, there are three square blind windows in the center, with the middle window covered by a large rectangular sundial that has modern painted lettering, including the date "1734." The side ranges have 2-light casements.

The house has a hipped roof with a ridge chimney offset to the left of center and a side-wall chimney at the right-hand end. At the left end, there is an added screen wall that continues flush with the front wall, behind which is an earlier screen wall that ramps up to the eaves. The rear and interior of the building were not inspected.
