Description
The balustrade enclosing the forecourt in front of the south front of Ashtead Park House is a notable feature, likely built in the later 19th century. Made of Portland stone ashlar, it surrounds an area approximately 60 metres wide and 30 metres deep, with concave outer corners and an entrance located at the southwest corner. The balustrade consists of vase balusters, which are divided into short sections by low rectangular piers. The entrance is marked by low gate piers that have vermiculated panels and moulded cornices, with some of these piers and others featuring large urns on top.
