Description
Fredley Manor is a timber-framed house situated on London Road, Mickleham. It dates to the 16th century, with later additions from the 18th century. The front is plastered, and the house has two storeys and four windows. The roof is tiled. Casement windows are present, and a modern porch features the date 1597 above the archway. Extensions were added to the east in the 18th century. The house has historical connections to literary and theatrical figures; towards the end of the 18th century, Richard, known as "Conversation" Sharpe, resided here and hosted gatherings that included William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Sarah Siddons.
