Description
Juniper Hill is a Grade II* listed building located on Headley Road in Mickelham. Originally built around 1780 by David Jenkinson, this square mansion features three storeys and a semi-basement, with five windows across its façade. The exterior is constructed of light brown brick and includes two stone string courses above the ground floor. A modillion cornice sits above the first floor, topped by a pediment on the second floor, with a cornice and parapet above it.
The three central window bays project slightly, with the centre bay being recessed at the ground and first floors. The second-floor window is set within a round-headed arch framed by the pediment. The ground floor windows are round-headed, and the central windows have moulded architrave surrounds, with additional architrave above them on the first floor and a balustraded panel below.
A porch with curved steps of the sedan type features fluted Doric columns, a pediment, and a semi-circular fanlight. There is a mid-Victorian addition to the south, which includes three windows facing south-west and four windows facing south-east, along with a service wing to the north. The main entrance has been relocated to the north-east corner, accessed through a large domed conservatory.
