Description
The lych gate to the Church of St Michael is likely from the late 19th century. It is constructed of rubblestone with ashlar quoins and coping, featuring a wooden superstructure and gates. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles, adorned with gablets, later decorative ridge-tiles, and a finial. The woodwork is well-carved, showcasing cusped tracery in the Perpendicular style, along with moulded arch braces that have head bosses supporting inscribed tie-beams and a central braced king-post truss. Inside, the gables are plastered and decorated with cherubs in relief. This lych gate is of good quality and has significant group value with the church.
