Description
The remains of the old church, now functioning as a type of baptistry, date back to the 15th century and were remodeled in the 19th century by the architect G. E. Street. The structure features flint rubble walls and an ashlared arched entrance, topped with a rendered domed roof that is now covered in foliage. Inside, there is an arched two-step entrance with an outer order on half-round pier responds, along with grave slabs on the walls and an old window surround at the rear. A squat octagonal font, adorned with foliated crucifix roundels on its stem and a ten-sided plinth with gabled faces, is also present. The front is enclosed by double spiked gates and the site is notable as it is placed over the grave of the Reverend Ferdinand Faithful.
