Description
Charlwood Place Farmhouse, dated 1590 on one of the main posts, is a symmetrical central chimney house featuring one room on each side of a baffle entrance, along with an added service bay and a raised granary and dairy. The area between the dairy and granary was incorporated into the house, and the entire structure was re-roofed around 1673. The farmhouse is two storeys high with attics in the gable end. The ground floor is timber-framed in square panels with painted brick infilling, while the first floor is tile hung. It has a tiled roof, four casement windows, and a gabled weather porch. Inside, there is a panelled parlour and a powder closet over the baffle entrance, along with a good series of carpenter's marks.
