Description

Chapel Farmhouse is a late 17th-century end-chimney house, originally with two bays, and later extended with a gabled cross-wing to the south. The ground floor is rendered, while the first floor has curved tiles over timber framing. The roof is tiled and half-hipped to the north. There are three casement windows. A later gabled weather porch has been added. A former low brick cow house, located to the north, has been incorporated into the main house. The building is documented in the Domestic Buildings Research Group Report No 47 and in “Four Centuries of Charlwood Houses” by Joan M Harding, page 54.
