Description

Orchard Cottage is a house dating from around 1640. It is timber framed and clad in whitewashed brick, with tile hanging above, and features brick extensions and plain tiled roofs. Originally, it was an end chimney house positioned at right angles to the street. The building has two storeys and a stack located to the right of the centre, though it has been largely rebuilt. There are three windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor, with a door situated to the right of centre.

On the left-hand return front, there is a tile-hung gable end featuring one window on the first floor, one between-floors window, and one ground floor window below. The corners of the house are supported by buttresses. Inside, the cottage has spine beams on the ceilings with chamfered angles, a deep inglenook, gun-stock main posts, and one arched brace on the first floor.
