Description
This building is a barn, approximately 35 metres northeast of Roaring House Farmhouse, with an attached stable and cow-house. It likely dates from the 17th century and has been altered. The structure features a timber frame on a brick plinth, with weatherboard cladding and a red tile roof. It has a rectangular three-bay plan oriented north-south, with an aisle on the east side, a stable at the north end, and a cow-house at the south end.
On the west side, there is a full-height wagon doorway with replacement double doors in the center. To the left, there is a two-storey, two-bay stable that includes a stable door on the right and an unglazed square window with vertical wooden slats on the left, along with a loft door in the gable wall. To the right, there is a single-storey, two-bay cow-house with a stable door in the first bay. The rear of the building features a central gabled portal with weatherboarding replacing the original wagon doors, flanked by cat-slide roofs over the side aisles.
Inside, the barn has post-and-truss construction with arch-bracing connecting the central posts to the tie-beams and to the aisle-plate over the rear portal. The staggered purlins are supported by raked double queen posts, with windbraces at both ends.
