Description

Eastwick Cottage is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 17th century and was enlarged in the early 19th century, with a recent extension that is not of special interest. The exterior features white-painted roughcast on brick, with some timber framing at the rear, and a red tile roof with roughcast chimneys. The building has a double-depth plan, consisting of a 17th-century two-unit range at the back and a 19th-century addition at the front, with a recent extension on the right-hand side.

The 17th-century rear range is one and a half storeys high, while the front addition is two storeys and has three bays arranged symmetrically. The ground floor features large canted bay windows in the first and third bays, and there are three 16-pane unhorned sash windows on the first floor, along with gable chimneys. The entrance is now located at the right-hand end of this front range. The one and a half storey rear range includes a bay window on the ground floor and dormer windows with two and three lights.

Inside, the former housepart in the rear range has a spine beam and joists with cyma-stopped chamfers, and a common-rafter roof supported by clasped purlins and two windbraces.
