Description
The Entrance Lodge and former stable block and cottage to Greyfriars was built around 1898 by C.A. Voysey. It features pebble dash and roughcast walls with stone dressings, slate roofs, hipped and swept eaves, and a pyramidal lead roof over a central tower. The structure includes an arched entrance tower flanked by lower wings, with a quadrant wall at the rear that leads to a square cottage on the west end, to the right of the entrance.
The Entrance Lodge has a central tower supported by angle pier buttresses. There are six small windows situated between a stone band above the arched stone-dressed entrance. The single-storey wings on either side have end diagonal buttresses and central ridge stacks. The left wing has a projecting bay with two four-light casement windows, while the right wing contains five casement windows and doors at the rear. A flat-roofed extension is located at the rear right, behind a wall with two planked doors. The square cottage at the end is one storey with an attic and a pyramidal roof, featuring end stacks at the corners on the right, three ground floor windows, and a part-glazed door in the roof dormer.
