Description
Hook Farm House is a 16th-century house that has been extended to the right in the 20th century. The building features an exposed timber frame on a cement plinth, with red brick infill. It has a plain tiled roof that is hipped at the left end. The house is two storeys tall and includes an end stack on the left, a front stack on the right, and a ridge stack located to the right of centre. There are four framed bays with curved bracing on the first floor. The windows are casement style, and there are two gabled, through-eaves casement dormers, along with four windows below. A stable style door is located at the left end, sheltered by an open, gabled porch. At the rear, there is a single-storey wing that extends at right angles. Inside, substantial framing is visible, and it is reputed that the rafters in the roof space are soot covered, suggesting that the house may have originally been a hall house.
