Description
Nos 43 and 45 High Street are early 19th-century houses that have been converted into shops, with some 20th-century alterations. They are built from yellow stock brick and feature deep eaves beneath a hipped slate roof. The buildings rise three storeys with attics and have cross ridge stacks positioned to the left of centre. The façade is four bays wide, highlighted by a central pediment that contains a lunette window in the tympanum, which is framed by a gauged-brick head. There are four sunk panels beneath the eaves, with long sunk panels extending through the first and second floors on either side of the centre. The second floor has four sash windows, with the two on the right being 12-pane glazing-bar sashes. The first floor has a similar window arrangement, with all windows featuring gauged-brick heads, and the first-floor windows being arched. The ground floor is occupied by plate glass shop fronts.
