Description

North Forest Lodge is a Grade II listed building dating from 1874, designed in the Lovelace style. It is constructed from flint rubble with brick and terracotta dressings, topped with slate roofs featuring deep eaves. The building has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys tall, showcasing a quatrefoil pattern and a guilloche-pattern band above the ground floor. There is a sill band at the first floor level adorned with horn motifs on terracotta plaques, as well as machicolated and dentilled eaves.

The lodge features end ridge stacks, with the left stack being circular and decorated with a diamond pattern on the flue. The first floor has three casement windows with original glazing bars, set in brick surrounds that cut into the eaves. The ground floor includes three windows in glazed brick with concave moulded surrounds, each topped with pentice hoods on roll moulded jamb shafts.

To the left, there is a single-storey extension with an additional window styled similarly. On the right-hand return front, there are two windows on each floor; the first-floor windows are set under roll moulded, cambered heads, flanking a central oval crest. The ground floor windows feature decorative glazing bars. A door is located at the rear, and there is a 20th-century screen wall on the right end that connects the house to a storage building.
