Description

Blue Ryde Cottage is an 18th-century estate cottage, which was restored and extended in the 20th century. The original entrance front is of red and brown brick laid in a chequerwork pattern, with a plain tiled roof, hipped to the right and extending in a catslide to the newer entrance front. It is two storeys high, with stacks to the gable ends. The rear facade, the original entrance front, has three first-floor leaded casement windows beneath wooden lintels, and two ground-floor windows with cambered heads. A central door is sheltered by a braced, gabled hood. The newer entrance front features three casement windows on the ground floor and two further windows within a single-storey, recessed 20th-century extension to the left. A part-glazed, stable-style door is located to the left of the centre, also sheltered by an open gable. Inside, a blocked, deep brick fireplace is present, along with a bread oven.
