Description

St. Catherine's Priory is a house with adjoining cottages to the north. The priory dates from the 18th century, while the cottages are from the late 16th or early 17th century. The priory features whitewashed roughcast over brick with a hipped, plain tiled roof. It is two storeys high and has a stack at the rear left. On the first floor, there are two 2-light windows with Gothick arched heads, and the central window is leaded. To the left, there is a canted bay under a hip roof, and there are canted bay windows at both ends of the ground floor with sash windows. The central entrance is a door located in a gabled brick porch with a chamfered entrance arch.

The cottages to the north, which are late 16th century at the left end, are timber framed and clad in whitewashed brick at the front, with galleted sandstone at the rear. The roofs are plain tiled and step down to the left, featuring tile-hung gable ends and dormers. There is a stack at the front left of the end cottage and another stack at the junction of the two ranges. The first floor has three windows, with two on the left-hand cottage and one on the right, all positioned under eaves gables. The ground floor has three windows, with the rightmost window having a cambered head. There is a door under a transom light at the junction of the cottages, as well as another door in the wing to the rear.
