Description

Braboeuf Cottage is a house dating to around 1850. It is constructed of bargate stone blocks with gault brick quoins, with patterned tile hanging to the rear left and a plain tiled roof. The house has two storeys and features triple cross-ridge stacks. The outer shafts of these stacks are octagonal, flanking a square centre shaft with chamfered angles and a corbelled top. The house presents a gable end to the street, featuring a plinth below the ground floor, with the first floor projecting forward by one brick width. A cross-shaped gable panel is present. There is a three-light, diamond-pane leaded casement window in the first floor, with a label moulding and brick ovolo mullion under cushion caps. A similar window is located on the ground floor, with diamond stops to the label. The left-hand return front, which serves as the entrance front, has a projecting break containing a diagonally boarded and panelled door within a projecting pier surround, covered by a pent roof supported on wooden brackets. A square bay projects diagonally across the corner, with one diamond-pane window on each face. A hip roof covers this bay, and it features iron railings with a quatrefoil and fleur-de-lys pattern along the ridge. Flat-roofed extensions are present to the left.
