Description

The Gothic Temple is a Gothick style structure built in the late 18th century, located in Painshill Park, Cobham, within the Borough of Elmbridge. This octagonal temple is constructed of wood covered in stucco, featuring a plastered wood roof. It has eight square uprights, each topped with an obelisk finial and separated by battlements. Each side of the temple includes one ogee arched opening, which is divided by a Y-shaped pendant, with a quatrefoil roundel positioned above. The interior boasts a fan vaulted roof, complete with a central pendant and petal decoration. At the time of the last survey, the temple was encased in scaffolding and undergoing restoration.
