Description

The Urquhart tomb, located 2 yards south west of the Garden of Rest in Long Ditton, is a tomb dedicated to Alexander Urquhart, who died in 1820. It stands 7 feet high on a three-step stone plinth and features a Greek cross plan that tapers towards the top. The sides are raised and panelled, with a bulls-eye raised band around the edges of the panels. The re-entrant angles are filled with shingled tapering piers that have anthemion type decoration on the end band. The tomb is topped with a shingled pyramidal lid that has a handled urn.
