Description
Southborough House is a building dating from 1808, designed by John Nash. It has a main front facing the garden and is constructed over two storeys with a stucco finish and a slate roof. The house features two chimneys and a deep wooden cornice with widely spaced brackets. The front facade is seven windows wide, with semi-circular sash windows on the first floor that have radiating bars, and square-headed windows on the ground floor with 4½ inch reveals. At the center, there is a pediment with a circular oculus. The ground floor also includes a bay window at the center, which has a door, while the upper part is glazed with bars. Inside, the house retains original marble chimney pieces, panelled doors with reeded surrounds, and other contemporary fittings.
