Description
The Church of St Andrew, built in 1871 by architect Sir A. Blomfield, is a Grade II listed brick Gothic church located on Maple Road in Kingston-upon-Thames. It features a northwestern tower topped with a saddle-back roof and an entrance porch. The church is constructed of yellow brick accented with red and white bands, along with some stone dressings and black voussoirs. Inside, there is a wide nave comprising four bays, flanked by narrow side aisles, and an apsed baptistery at the west end. The clerestory has two pointed lancets per bay, while the transeptal chancel chapels are wide open to the chancel, which includes a shallow bay for the sanctuary. Notable features include polychrome brickwork above the chancel arch and stained glass by Lavers and Westlake. The roofs are steeply pitched and tiled.
