Description

Feltonfleet School is a house that has been converted into a school, built around 1860, possibly designed by Charles Buxton and constructed by Frederick Barnes. The building features red and blue diaper patterned brick and plain tiled roofs, topped with tall, star-shaped stacks and terracotta chimney pots, reflecting the Foxwarren style. It is two storeys high with an attic, characterized by three crow-stepped gables on the front and a diagonal brick string course on brick corbels above the ground floor.

The windows exhibit mixed designs, including arched casement windows in the gables with hood mouldings, three-light cusped head windows framed in gauged and rubbed brick with flat drip moulds above on the first floor, and five and four-light windows on the ground floor. An arched plank door with strapwork hinges is positioned to the left of centre, set within a gabled brick porch that features moulded bargeboards and a triangular transom light above the door.

There are 20th-century gabled bays added to the left end and an arched porch recess on the ground floor. The rear of the building includes three square and angle bays on the ground floor, with windows similar to those on the front, and a two-storey wing to the right, along with a large 20th-century wing on the rear left that has hipped roof dormers.
