Description

This is a terrace of five houses, dating from around 1740. The houses are built of brown brick with red brick detailing, with the left-hand return front rendered. The roofs are tiled, and there are multiple chimneys at the rear. The houses are two storeys high with an attic space, featuring six hipped roof dormers. Each dormer has dividing piers, a rendered corniced top, and a stone sphere. A plat band runs above the ground floor, and a brick dentil band sits at the eaves. Each house has three bays, with sliding sash windows with glazing bars beneath gauged arches. Some ground-floor windows have been altered, and the right-hand window is plate glass. The roof slope has a slate angle bay window to the left end, and lunette windows are present in the basement. The entrance door to the left house (No. 1) is half-glazed with a transom light, set within a surround of fluted pilasters. A flat porch with a triglyph cornice and volute scrolls sits above the doorway. The central doors (No. 3) are double-panelled with a transom light in a similar surround. The right-hand end door, serving Nos. 5 and 6, is panelled with a transom light.
