Description
The entrance wall and gates to the Manor House, located on Station Road in Thames Ditton, date from the 18th century, with the entrance gate added in the late 19th century. The wall is constructed of brown brick, featuring red brick at the gate, and has stone coping on the end piers to the left. It stands approximately 10 feet high and is about 150 feet long, with two square piers at the left end, each 12 feet tall. Wrought iron gates are situated between these piers. To the left, there is a red brick gate in front of the main house entrance, which is around 15 feet high. The brick piers are topped with stone Doric capitals, and there is a moulded brick arch with a keystone that breaks into the base of a swans-neck broken pediment, which contains a central stone sphere on a square plinth. This wall is an important feature along Station Road.
