Description
This is a manor house, originally built in the early 18th century and significantly altered in the mid-19th century, with a later 19th-century extension to the rear. The front facade is rendered and has a plain tiled Mansard roof with a rendered stack on the left. The house is two storeys and has an attic, with six flat-roofed dormers in the half-hipped roof section. A modillion cornice and parapet run along the eaves. The front of the house has three bays, with a central angle bay projecting forward. The first-floor windows are glazing-bar sash windows with cambered heads in the outer bays. A half-glazed front door is centrally located within the angle bay, surrounded by a fluted Doric pilaster and a triglyph frieze that extends to either side, forming a rich cornice over the ground floor of the central angle bay. A single-storey, hipped-roof addition is located at the left end, and there are three angle bays on the right-hand return front. The rear of the house is constructed of red brick with terracotta dressings. The late 19th-century angle bays feature Dutch-style pediments, and tall panelled stacks rise from the roof.
