Description
Nos. 21 to 25 on Bridge Street are two houses and a shop, dating from the mid to late 17th century, with an extension added to the right in the mid 18th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and feature a gabled concrete tile roof. There is a ridge stack to the left made of stone and finished in brick, and a brick ridge stack to the right that dates from the late 17th and mid 18th centuries.
The layout is a two-unit lobby-entry plan, which has been extended by two additional units to the right in the early 18th century. The buildings are two storeys high and have a four-window range. On the left side, there is a two-window range with timber lintels over a 20th-century door, a central mid 19th-century panelled door, mid to late 19th-century sash windows, and a 20th-century window. To the right, there are timber lintels over a late 19th-century panelled door and 20th-century casements. The roof features three gabled dormers with 20th-century casements.
At the rear left is a late 17th or early 18th-century wing built with similar materials. Attached to the rear is an outbuilding, which was formerly a weaving shed from the 18th century, and it has a corrugated iron roof.
Inside, the buildings boast heavy stop-chamfered beams, while the rear wing has later chamfered beams and a collar-truss roof.
