Description
Buchan House is a pair of houses built around 1820 to 1830. The front is made of limestone ashlar, while the rear is constructed from coursed rubble. The building features a gabled Welsh slate roof with a rendered ridge stack and has a double-depth plan. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has a four-window range. The outer bays have rebated semi-circular-arched architraves leading to four-panelled doors with overlights. There are flat stone arches above six-pane sash windows and a tripartite sash window in the center. A raised storey band is present, with flat stone arches over six-pane sashes (which have margin lights) on the first floor to the left, and late 19th-century sashes to the right. The building has a moulded cornice beneath the parapet and 20th-century gabled dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
