Description

Nos 1-4 are almshouses built in 1640, as noted on the datestone that reads, "The work and Gift of Henry Cornish. Gent. 1640." They are constructed from coursed rubble stone with stone dressings and feature a gabled stone tiled roof with nine ridge stacks, some of which have been renewed. The roadside facade consists of eight gabled tenements, although there are now four dwellings. Each has 2-light mullion windows with dripstones in the gables, and 3-light mullions on the ground floor, all set beneath a continuous string course. The windows have 19th-century casements, and each cottage has a 19th-century plank door beneath a pedimented hood.
