Description
The Netherlands is a barn that was later converted into two cottages and is now a house. It likely dates from the 17th century and has undergone alterations. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof with brick chimneys. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has a three-window range. There is a 20th-century plank door to the left of the center, flanked by casement windows with glazing bars. There are two windows to the right and three to the left. The first floor has three similar windows, all except one on the right positioned under 19th-century timber lintels. There are also two 20th-century roof lights. To the far left, there are double doors leading to a projecting court entry, which is covered by a carslide roof. The interior includes an internal brick stack on the left and a brick gable-end stack on the right. The rear of the building has two buttresses flanking another former court entry, which is now blocked. The interior features floors and partitions that mostly date from the 19th-century conversion, with some 20th-century alterations. The roof structure of the barn remains intact, showcasing heavy principal rafters, collars, and purlins. This former agricultural building is likely associated with Prospect Villa and is included for its group value.
