Description

Manor Farmhouse is likely an early to mid-17th century building, possibly originally a manor house, and was re-fronted in the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed and random limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a roof covered in Stonesfield slate, clay plain tiles, and stone and brick stacks. The farmhouse is arranged in a T-shape, with two storeys and an attic. The front elevation has a 3-window arrangement, featuring a 20th-century stone porch to the left of centre, and largely 3-light casement windows with ashlar flat arches. The right gable features a 3-light wood-mullioned window with leaded glazing. On the rear, a similar 4-light mullioned window faces left, another 3-light window is present in the lower bakehouse range, and a gable parapet tops the end wall of the rear wing. The bakehouse has a large, rounded oven projection with a stone-slated roof. Internally, the farmhouse includes fireplaces with moulded mantel shelves, re-used 17th-century oak panelling, and a very large open fireplace with a bread oven in the bakehouse.
