Description
This is a house located at 37 West End, dating from the late 17th century, with an early 18th-century extension to the left and a refronting that occurred in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a stucco front and features a gabled stone slate roof, while the left and rear sections have concrete tiles. It has a brick end stack and is designed in an L-shape with a rear left wing. The house is two storeys high and has a two-window range.
The front door, from the 20th century, is set in a semi-circular arched doorway with panelled reveals. The windows include late 18th-century to early 19th-century six-pane sashes, and the early 18th-century two-storey bay to the left features an early 19th-century eight-pane sash with a segmental arch above an early 18th-century six-pane sash that has thick glazing bars on the first floor. At the rear, there is an early 18th-century wing to the left and a late 17th-century wing, both made of limestone rubble and topped with gabled concrete tile roofs. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
