Description

The Lamb and Flag is a public house located in Middleton, dating to the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a gabled stone slate roof, brick ridge and end stacks, and incorporates a 3-unit rear outshut plan. The building is two storeys and an attic, originally with a three-window front. A 20th-century stone porch has been added to the second bay from the right. The ground floor windows are 20th-century casements with timber lintels. A hipped roof dormer has been inserted to the right.

A later 18th-century two-storey bay is attached to the left side, built of limestone rubble with a gabled concrete tile roof and a brick end stack. This bay features a blocked window with a timber lintel, a 20th-century window, and two 20th-century doors. A one-storey bay of similar materials is attached to the left, with a 20th-century door.

The interior of the early 18th-century range includes heavy chamfered beams, stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
