Description

Grass Ground Farmhouse, now a house, dates from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a gabled stone slate roof, featuring a late 19th or 20th century brick ridge and end stacks. The original design comprised two units arranged around a central cross-passage. The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front. A chamfered timber lintel sits above the central plank front door. Late 19th century three-light casement windows are present, along with a horizontal-sliding sash window above the door. C20 gabled roof dormers have been added. A C20 gabled cross wing extends to the right. The interior was not inspected, but it is recorded to have chamfered beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
