Description
College Farmhouse and Cottage is a farmhouse and cottage built in the early 19th century, with some minor alterations from the 20th century. The structure is made of coursed rubble limestone, featuring brick quoins and window dressings. The main part of the house has a concrete tile roof, while the lower cottage range has stone slates. There are brick chimneys present.
The main house is two storeys tall with an attic and consists of three bays. It has old three-light windows with wooden mullions, central opening metal casements, and flanking fixed wooden lights, each light featuring a single horizontal glazing bar. The windows are set in bonded brick jambs with flat brick arches above. The central entrance has a 20th-century six-panelled top-lit door within a similar surround. The centre bay also features a 20th-century hipped roof dormer with a two-light barred wooden casement.
At the rear, there is a stair projection leading to a later 19th-century extension, which includes a door in a porch made of two large stone slabs. To the right of the main house, slightly set back, is a lower two-storey range consisting of three bays, which includes a mid-19th-century two-bay cottage extension. The cottage has two and three-light casements with single horizontal glazing bars, set in dressed stone surrounds. The earlier part of the building has two doorways at the centre; the left doorway features a lean-to slate hood, while the right doorway is blocked. There is a 20th-century door at the centre of the extension. This building was originally constructed as an estate farmhouse for Trinity College, Oxford.
