Description

Two houses, Pipers and Dormer Cottage, stand on the east side of Wroslyn Road, Freeland. The rear portions of the houses date to the mid-18th century, but the front house (No. 163) was built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a gabled stone slate roof and a brick end stack.

The houses follow a two-unit plan, with two storeys and a two-window front. The front house (No. 163) has a keyed segmental stone arch over a 20th-century door, which is sheltered by a gabled stone slate hood, and over 20th-century two-light casement windows. A 20th-century extension is located to the left. The rear house (No. 165) is built of similar materials and is one storey and attic in height, featuring a 20th-century porch. The interior of No. 163 was not inspected. The properties are included on the list for their group value.
