Description
A group of three houses dated probably to the mid-18th century and altered around 1830, located on the south side of Corn Street, Witney. The houses are constructed of roughly dressed limestone rubble with a gabled stone slate roof; the right-hand portion (No. 77) has concrete tiles. A brick and stone flue ridge stack is present.
The houses are arranged with a three-unit plan, and have two storeys with a four-window facade. The left-hand house (No. 73) has a timber lintel and a 19th-century flat hood over a 20th-century door, with segmental stone arches above early 19th-century eight-pane sash windows. The central house (No. 75) has an early 19th-century six-panelled door with a fanlight, set in a moulded wooden architrave with console brackets supporting a flat hood. A canted bay window with sashes to the left and timber lintels over six-pane sashes above is also present. The right-hand house (No. 77) has a timber lintel over a 20th-century door, and a canted bay window to the right with 20th-century windows, and a timber lintel over a 20th-century window above. The interior and rear of the properties were not inspected but are likely to contain features of interest.
