Description
63 Corn Street, including 1 The Crofts, is a house that has been converted into a restaurant and dwelling. It dates from the early to mid 18th century and is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with dressed quoins. The building features a gabled concrete tile roof and end stacks made of rendered stone finished in 18th-century brick. It has a two-unit plan with a central passage, two storeys, and an attic, presenting a four-window range. The front includes a segmental-arched stone architrave around a revealed 20th-century door, timber lintels over a 20th-century three-light casement window to the left, and late 18th-century six-pane sash windows. There are also two 20th-century gabled roof dormers. The rear right wing, which dates from the 18th century and is made of similar materials, has a rendered end stack and was remodeled in the 20th century. Inside, the property features chamfered beams and open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers.
