Description

Melrose House is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, located on the north side of Corn Street, Witney. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a stuccoed front. The roof is covered with gabled M-shaped stone slates, and features a stone end stack. The building follows a double-depth plan.

The house is arranged over two storeys and an attic, with a two-window front. It contains late 18th century six-pane sash windows; a gabled roof dormer has 20th-century casements. On the right-hand side wall are two late 18th/early 19th century six-pane sashes, and an early 19th century bracketed flat hood shelters a six-panelled door with an overlight. Further six-pane sashes are present to the rear. The interior was not inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
