Description
68 and 72 Corn Street are two houses dating from the 18th century, with an extension on the left added in the later 18th century and a refronting that took place in the mid and late 19th century.
No. 68, located on the right, features coursed limestone rubble with a stucco front and a gabled concrete tile roof, along with a late 19th century brick end stack. It has a two-unit plan, stands two storeys tall with an attic, and has a two-window range. A mid 19th century flat hood covers a beaded four-panel door (two glazed) set within a beaded architrave. The first floor has 20th century and, on the first floor, 19th century three-light casements, along with a gabled roof dormer.
No. 72, on the left, is constructed from similar materials but has a late 19th century roughcast front and late 19th century brick ridge and end stacks. It also stands two storeys tall with an attic and has a three-window range. The door and casements are from the 20th century, except for a 19th century two-light casement on the right.
The interior has not been inspected. These houses are included for their group value.
